Strengthening Youth and Community in the Torrens Catchment
On Monday, we all went to the Queen’s Birthday Party!
On Tuesday we planted 1000 plants at a revegetation site at “Brackendale” (Forest Range). Much easier going in the rip lines at “Brackendale” and much quicker not having to put guards around the plants. We finished planting on Wednesday afternoon.
On Thursday morning we prepared for the launch of the project. Everyone got up and spoke which was pretty scary but we all did it! Victory!!!
We met important people involved in the program. Bob Butler Chairman of Sixth Creek Catchment Group, John Wills Chairman from the Mid Torrens Catchment
Group and Steve Corbally Chairman from the Upper Torrens Land Management Project Steering Committee and Steve Brooks Adelaide Hills Council Natural Resources Officer. Gerry Butler spoke and urged us all to contribute to the website. It was good to meet these people because without them there would be no project. They were all very positive and supportive. It was nice to see Margaret Bolster come along to the launch. Katrina was fantastic in the morning helping us with our speeches and she really encouraged us to get up and do it.
Some of the things we are looking to gain from the program are:
We are all looking forward to next week.
