Strengthening Youth and Community in the Torrens Catchment
Another busy week for the Green Corps team!
Monday we did more OH&S modules for our Certificate in Horticulture. We worked with Tom Playford in the garden below the Resource Centre at Norton Summit. Tom didn’t say much but was impressed with our work!!!
Tuesday and Thursday we went to Minton Farm and worked on revegetation sites. Minton Farm is a rescue centre for injured animals. Bev was really pleased with our work there and asked if we could come back.
Wednesday was spent again with Tom Playford and Phil delivered a course on Safe Use of Chemicals. We had lunch at the park in Summertown and cleaned the catchment sign there which you can now read. We asked Katrina if we could clean all those signs throughout the catchment and she thought it was a neat idea!
Friday we spent with Katrina at the bottom of Corkscrew Rd doing Waterwatch testing.
We also did aquatic macro invertebrate identification. The creek looked in great shape.
It was a great week. Next week we go to the top of the catchment to work with Gerry Butler. We have had a beaut time working on Katrina’s Patch!
