Strengthening Youth and Community in the Torrens Catchment
Another busy week for the Green Corps team!
Start of a new week and we went to Mt Pleasant and met with Kim Thompson the local Catchment Group Project Officer. We then went to Cromer Conservation Reserve to cut and swab Pinus radiata. We also ring-barked the bigger trees. Tuesday we met Stephen Anderson the Chairman of Upper River Torrens Landcare Group and went to a private property on McVitties Road at Birdwood to plant eucalyptus and retrieve tree guards.
Wednesday we planted a further 450 understorey plants. When we completed this task we started collecting the plastic tree guards and bamboo stakes. It was windier and colder then an Antarctic winter. At times, we were blown off our feet.
Thursday we cleaned the van and trailer in preparation for our lunch with the sponsors at the Totness Hotel Mount Pleasant. It was a good finish to another interesting week. Our team photographer Vanessa Ween shot several pictures.
