Strengthening Youth and Community in the Torrens Catchment
Monday - Raining all day, so we checked out the creek lines along the Catchment to see the effects of erosion.
Tuesday - Spent all day with Peter and Pat Clark at Millbrook Reservoir. We walked along the length of the site and then proceeded to hand weed for the rest of the day.
Wednesday - Back to Millbrook Reservoir for cutting and swabbing, fixing fences, brush cutting and erosion control in the Wet and Dry Swamp Reservoir.
Thursday - Started in Federation Park. Gerard and Lizzy measured the circumference of two big Eucalyptus trees which were a massive 31ft, and a smaller 22ft, both around 750 years old. We dropped the trailers at Mt Pleasant and crossed the ranges into the dark mist that was the pouring rain in an epic adventure, to visit the Murray River along Walkers Flat and to cross the ferry. Some of the team had not seen the Murray river since the water crisis and were a bit shocked to see how low the water level had gotten. We proceeded to travel down to Mannum along the river and drove back in the teeming rain to Mt. Pleasant.
Friday - Met with Gerry at the Evans Property and planted all day. Gerry also gave us a workshop on wind breaks.
